Celery Socks

This morning I started on a pair of socks for myself. After making lots of things to give away, Matt made me spend 50 dollars on yarn for the knee socks I have been imagining for my own cold feet. I have had the chance to practice on socks for Bailey (lucky for her I did-I finished them as the snow began last Friday and Bai had worn heels with no socks to work. She was much warmer after meeting me for lunch and getting her prize), and some almost finished ones that will be saved for a gift for someone else. I ran out of yarn on those and will have to take some of the black and white bits out of Bailey's leftovers. Anyway, the point is, I really like knitting things with someone else in mind, but I am excited to have some homemade socks for myself, too. I have the sort of crazy idea that it would be awesome if Matt and I had all handmade socks to wear all the time. Plus, if I get skilled enough, maybe we can live in Fair Isle for a year. This dream is what keeps me knitting.

I am making up the socks based on the kind of ugly patterns from my first and only sock book and some advice and tutorials found online, and a picture I saw in a bookstore book and cannot find again.

Update: I unraveled the socks because I realized they were too small, bought a new book at the knitting store, and just need some quiet time to get started.
